Technical Design Assistance

As one of the oldest manufacturers of precision granite products in the United States, Rock of Ages has an unparalleled level of experience producing high-precision granite solutions.  Rest assured that this experience and commitment to quality is applied to each and every product we manufacture.

Rock of Ages does not utilize any outsourced labor nor do we incorporate any off-shore manufacturing processes.  This consistent and constant oversight provides you with peace-of-mind knowing that; from a rough block, to the finished product, your design and intellectual property are always under our purview. This manufacturing model also serves our customer well in that their access to the process, coupled with the experience of our technical staff, often lead to design changes which lower costs by improving the manufacturability of their product.

Please find below a few examples of the components and features we can incorporate into your granite surface plate, fixture or assembly.

Rock of Ages utilizes a proprietary insert design which meets or exceeds ASME Standard B89-3.7 and Federal Specification GGG-P-463c insert torque ratings. Manufactured onsite, standard and non-standard inserts are turned to your specifications to include ANSI, Metric, Tapered and Solid Blanks in both stainless steel and INVAR configurations.

The following design guides feature our standard sizes and are not inclusive of all inserts/blanks available.  For non-standard sizes, as well as INVAR solutions, please click HERE to submit your request regarding alternative design specifications.

Holes, Cutouts and Profiles

Whether it be a standard thru-hole, counterbore or a combination thereof, Rock of Ages has the equipment and expertise to make sure they are on position and accurate. While hole sizes are often limited by the depth at which they need to be drilled, the options from the very small to the very large are provided for through the use of traditional drilling/coring equipment as well as multi-axis wire saws. This same equipment allows for a multitude of options regarding cutouts and profiles necessary for any clearance and/or access requirements that your design calls for.

Rock of Ages has a tremendous amount of experience when it comes to milling precision slots and placing slot inserts.  Our experience in combining dissimilar materials is extensive so we can confidently help with your design related questions.  Tolerance specifications are held to the highest degree and provided for through a combination state-of-the-art equipment and hands-on experience which can be measured in hundreds of years combined.

Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Flatness, perpendicularity, parallelism and coplanarity are just a few of the standards on which we know your precision product(s) are based.  Our team is recognized throughout the industry for applying these GD&T points to monolithic structures and assemblies alike.  Feel confident knowing that your project is in good hands and that your standards will be met or exceeded each and every time while at the same time generating meaningful value to you and your customers.
